Flames forced to cancel Red Lot viewing parties for Game 2 and Game 3
Tough news in Calgary…
HockeyFeed
The Calgary Flames might have won Game 1 of the Battle of Alberta against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday, but this is a huge loss for the fanbase.
The Flames announced Thursday that the organization will be cancelling Red Lot viewing parties for Game 2 and Game 3 of their playoff series against the Oilers because of a storm that tore through the city a day earlier.
In a press release, the Flames explained how Friday’s and Sunday’s viewing parties had to be cancelled “due to damage suffered to the site during yesterday’s windstorm, and inclement weather in the forecast.”
The Red Lot allows thousands of fans to watch Flames playoff games outside together on the Stampede Grounds on multiple large screens for free.
The Flames are looking out for their fans’ safety, which is reassuring, though we have to assume that most of them are disappointed they cannot attend the game outside. Tickets are already sold out for Game 2 and the Red Lot had become a gathering place for fans showing their support.
It remains to be seen if the Red Lot will be made available for Game 4 on Tuesday.
