Flames “laugh off lowball offers” as teams try to acquire Bennett

A lot happening in Calgary!

There has been so much happening in the past weeks in Calgary that the Flames are trying their best to keep up a good attitude and focus on winning under new interim head coach Geoff Ward.

What NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has reported on Wednesday in his latest 31 Thoughts column on Sportsnet might have lighten up the mood in the dressing room to get them through all the mess with former head coach Bill Peters.

Friedman reports that the Flames were contacted by teams who wanted to make an offer on forward Sam Bennett. The forward’s name has been heard more than once amongst trade chatter, however, it seems like interested parties made laughable offers to Calgary:

“Before everything that happened last week in Calgary, other clubs were trying to see if they could steal Sam Bennett. The Flames apparently laughed off lowball offers. In the past, teams that have tried to get him include Anaheim, Montreal and Nashville.”

We get why these teams would be interested in landing the gritty forward, however there is a price to pay. Bennett has been on injured reserve since Nov. 17 and is hoping to get back to the team as soon as possible.

We are glad to hear that the Flames could laugh it off and move forward from the bad offers. They simply cannot afford a bad move because things have been rough.

Ever since Peters resigned and Ward took over, the Flames have won two games in a row. Let’s build off that.
