It’s been quite hectic in Calgary for the past month especially when players like Elias Lindholm and Mikael Backlund informed the Flames that they do not plan on signing extensions with the team. The Flames have already swung a deal with the New Jersey Devils, sending Tyler Toffoli (who also indicated he had no interest in signing long term in Calgary) in exchange for Yegor Sharangovich and the 80th overall pick in the 2023 draft, who turned out to be Aydar Suniev. But now, it sounds like the Flames might be the ones pushing a player out.

According to House of Hockey, trade talks are reportedly heating up around goalie Dan Vladar. The Flames might be looking at promoting prospect Dustin Wolf sooner rather than later, which could mean Vladar gets shopped.

Wolf took his first step onto NHL ice in the Flames’ final game last season and clearly, team management liked what they saw. Calgary can count on established veteran Jacob Markstrom, who’s locked in on a 6-million-a-year contract, which holds a no-trade clause.

Despite the fact that Vladar is the youngest of the three netminders, his more affordable price tag and potential make him a hot commodity on the trade block.

Do you think Vladar will be traded ahead of the 2023-24 season?
