Flames roasted by their own fans as they appear to give up on the season.

Ugly body language from the Flames.

The Calgary Flames came into the Saddledome on Saturday night desperately needing a win to remain in the playoff hunt.

The Flames are well behind the Winnipeg Jets who currently hold the second Wild Card spot in the National Hockey League's Western Conference and the 2 points they could have earned at the expense of the Minnesota Wild would have done a lot to make up some of that ground. Instead of an inspired effort however the Flames left their fans in the Saddledome disappointed on Saturday night as they were shut out by the Wild who took a dominant 3-0 win over the Flames.

The Flames now find themselves 7 points back of the aforementioned Jets and their current run of form doesn't suggest they will be making up that ground any time soon. The Flames have gone 2-5-3 over their last 10 games but perhaps most telling of all was the body language on the Flames bench following their loss to the Wild on Saturday.

As the Flames were booed out of their own building by angry fans, the body language from the players told a story of a team that has appeared to have completely given up on the season. Even passionate players like Nazem Kadri and Tyler Toffoli appeared to be totally dejected on the Flames bench as the prospect of another failed season in Calgary began to truly sink in.

In this clip Sportsnet's Kelly Hrudey attempts to put a positive spin on the situation, but even that did little to diminish how dire this situation looks for the Flames.
