Wonderful news for Fleury!

Well this just went from a concerning story to a wonderful one in very short order.

Just moments ago we reported on a very curious move from the Las Vegas Golden Knights just hours before game time. The Golden Knights made the decision to call up goaltender Maxime Lagace from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League which was very curious given that both of their goaltenders appeared healthy and ready to go tonight.

Las Vegas Golden Knights reporter Jesse Grnager of The Athletic reported that backup goaltender Malcolm Subban appeared perfectly healthy at practice today which really only left questions surrounding veteran and beloved Golden Knights goaltender Marc Andre Fleury. Fleury had played just the night before, and played quite well in fact, helping his Golden Knights soundly defeating the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 6 - 2. Fleury looked strong throughout the entire game allowing just 2 goals on the 31 shots that came his way, good enough for a very solid .935 save percentage on the evening, but it was always possible that he had tweaked something during the game that only flared up today.

Well as it turns out our speculation regarding the fact that it would be Fleury who would miss tonight's game was indeed correct but it is not the result of an injury suffered in last night's contest instead of the Canucks. No instead there has been some rather wonderful news in Fleury land and it sounds like it may be arriving very soon indeed.

According to a report from the aforementioned Jesse Granger the real reason Fleury will be absent tonight is merely due to the fact that the Golden Knights are as classy an organization as you're going to find in North American pro sports. Fleury and his wife are expecting a brand new baby at any moment and the plan tonight was always to start Malcolm Subban on the second night of a back to back. By calling Lagace up however the Golden Knights free up Fleury of his duties as a backup this evening which will allow him to leave at a moments notice if his wife does indeed go into labor.

It was initially reported that Fleury had already departed but it appears that as of right now he's still in the building. Good look to Fleury, his wife, and the new life they are about to bring into the world!
