Arber Xhekaj delivers an early preseason beatdown and his brother watches it all from the penalty box!
The National Hockey League is so back!
On Saturday night the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens went head to head in what turned out to be a rather entertaining preseason contest between the two longtime rivals. In spite of the fact that this was an exhibition game, the rivalry between these two was on full display and it would eventually boil over into a fierce clash between Habs enforcer Arber Xhekaj and Toronto Marlies veteran Marshall Rifai.
Rifai may have been looking to showcase his toughness at the NHL level but he picked the wrong man and the wrong night to do so. Xhekaj was more than up to the task and he largely dominated Rifai in the exchange, landing several punishing blows and uppercuts with Rifai offering very little offense of his own.
The battle between the two men was one thing, but moments later we would be treated to one of the most surreal visuals you'll ever seen during an NHL game of any kind.
Sitting in the penalty box was Florian Xhekaj, Arber's younger brother, but instead of merely serving his punishment he turned it into a fun break from the game. After grabbing the phone of one of the attendants in the box, camera's would catch Florian watching the replay of the fight that had just occurred out on the ice.
To think, we're already getting great moments like this and the season hasn't even officially begun.
