We've seen a few similar incidents in the past, but it's just as frightening.
Florida Panthers prospect Jakub Kos, who is currently playing with Koovee of Ilves, suffered a fractured neck after suffering a hit from behind from Hermes’ Eemeli Ylitao. He lay motionless on the ice for several minutes while being attended to by medical personnel.
Meanwhile, Ylitao was removed from the game and issued a multi-game suspension.
”Kos has a fracture on his neck and it’s a miracle he wasn’t paralyzed. There is no timeline for his return as there is a high chance he can’t play at all anymore,” Finnish hockey journalist Tiia Honkamaa wrote.
Kos was drafted by the Panthers in the the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
