Flyers add up front thanks to claim off waivers
NHL

On Tuesday, the defending champion Colorado Avalanche placed forward Lukas Sedlak on waivers.

Last season, the 29-year-old centre took part in three games so far this season with the Avs but does not have a point yet. He spent the past three seasons in the KHL, scoring 18 goals in 49 games last year for Chelyabinsk Traktor.
Another change of scenery now awaits him as the Philadelphia Flyers claimed Sedlak off the waiver wire on Wednesday.

There is a link between Sedlak and the Flyers as new head coach John Tortorella was the one who coached the forward when they were both part of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Under Torts, Sedlak posted 15 goals and 56 points in 162 contests before he headed back home to Russia for three seasons in the KHL.

This summer, he signed as a free agent with the Avalanche, but did not get the start he was hoping for. Maybe Torts can get him to crack the roster in Philly.

In other waivers news on Wednesday, the New York Rangers placed left winger Dryden Hunt on the wire, while the Vancouver Canucks put forward Phillip DiGiuseppe on there.
