Flyers attempt to mess up trade plans?!

Is this helping or potentially ruining a good trade?

The focus on the trade market continues to be on Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun, who admitted last week he is still hoping to get traded.

As many insiders pointed out in recent days, many suitors have emerged as interested parties for the blue liner’s services despite the high asking price from general manager Bill Armstrong, who is reportedly seeking at least one first-round pick plus a top prospect or a good young NHL player.

That hasn’t stopped interested clubs like the Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues, the Columbus Blue Jackets from inquiring about the defenseman.

However, some may feel like they need to back off upon hearing what the Philadelphia Flyers might have said about trading for Chychrun.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman talked about Ryan Ellis’ status with the Philadelphia Flyers and how it could be hurting Chychrun’s trade value. The Flyers acquired Ellis last summer from the Nashville Predators but injuries have limited the 31-year-old defenseman to just four games. He is not expected to play at all this season due to a back injury.

Friedman cited one team telling him Ellis’ situation with the Flyers has “sent a chill” throughout the league. The insider wondered if clubs could be concerned about acquiring Chychrun only to have him face a potentially career-threatening injury.

It is no secret that Chychrun has a well-documented injury history as he is now rehabbing an ankle injury and remains uncertain for the start of the coming season.

A trade could have to wait as interested clubs might have some sort of guarantee by seeing how he performs once he returns to action and if he can stay healthy this season.
