The Philadelphia Flyers have just announced a call up, but this one is of particular interest to their fans and to those with their eyes on the future of the organization.

According to an official announcement from the Flyers organization on Monday, the team has made the move to call up 20 year old center Morgan Frost effective immediately. Frost of course was the Flyers first round draft selection (27th overall) at the 2017 National Hockey League Entry Draft and as a result there has been a tremendous amount of interest surrounding Frost ever since.

Frost spent the previous season as a member of the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League, the team that he spent all 4 of his OHL seasons with. During the 2018 - 2019 campaign Frost recorded a very impressive 37 goals and 72 assists for a total of 109 points over just 58 games played. This year Frost joined the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League and it seems that his hot start in the AHL has resulted in him getting a quick call up to the main roster. Although Frost has appeared in just 16 games for the Phantoms he already has 5 goals and 7 assists for a total of 12 points to his name.

It seems likely that Frost will only be getting a limited look at the NHL level this season, but that could potentially change if he has a dynamic performance during his time with the main roster. That being said I would be surprised if the Flyers were willing to burn a year off of his entry level contract, but again that will be determined by how well he plays.
