The Philadelphia Flyers' are facing an interesting and somewhat scary prospect this season, two 19 year old players who are making a very strong case to earn a roster spot.

Over the last two days the Flyers have announced a number of roster cuts but unsurprisingly both defenseman Ivan Provorov and forward Travis Konecny have both avoided that fate, and currently both remain with the Flyers.

After back to back strong showings from Provorov many believe he is now a lock to make the roster, although with general manager Ron Hextall running the show nothing is ever certain. With that said Provorov has arguably been the best defender on the ice in the preseason for Philadelphia, and he's shown he has the endurance to play in the NHL with one of his performances spanning nearly half a game's worth of ice time.

Konecny is a still somewhat of a long shot to make the team, however he is coming off a fantastic preseason performance that turned a lot of heads on Wednesday night. In the second period Konecny was dominant, opening the scoring and adding an assist later in the period, earning himself first star honors on the evening.

It will take more than just one outing for Konecny to convince Hextall to keep him at the NHL level, even for a nine game tryout, but if he can maintain this level of play it will be an incredibly difficult decision for Hextall to make if he intends to send him back to the OHL.
