For many Flyers fans, this is just the latest example of the “Old Boys Club”.

The Philadelphia Flyers made the decision earlier this season to terminate president and general manager Chuck Fletcher, while promoting former Flyers forward Danny Briere as general manager on an interim basis. And this week, they officially announced their new president of hockey operations as former Flyers forward Keith Jones.

Jones has been an analyst for the Flyers for the last 23 years while also working NHL games for Turner Sports since last season.

"I would like to thank (Flyers governor) Dan Hilferty for this opportunity and confidence in me," Jones said. "Today is one of the most humble and proudest days of my life. To be able to lead this team back to the winning tradition that everyone knows it can, and should be, is a true honor and one that I do not take lightly. I consider the Philadelphia Flyers organization the gold standard of the NHL and professional sports. I've seen how this city and these fans can rally around their team and there is nothing that compares to that feeling. With this leadership group in place, I am beyond excited and fully confident that we are on the right path and the results will come."

However, this move isn't sitting well with plenty of the Flyers vocal fan base, many of whom are voicing their view that this is simply the latest example of the "Old Boys Club" led by Bobby Clarke.
