Flyers make a big change in net on Tuesday.

The Flyers are shaking things up.

The Philadelphia Flyers are making a big change in goal, and it's likely to be an unpopular one among the fan base.

Despite having four very solid performances this season in the Flyers net this season goaltender Anthony Stolarz has been sent back down to the American Hockey League's Leigh Valley Phantoms.

The motivation behind the move is clear, goaltender Michal Neuvirth is once again healthy and needed to be activated off of injured reserve, and that roster spot comes at the expense of Stolarz's continued development at the National Hockey League level.

Despite the fact that the move makes a great deal of sense from a long-term perspective, it's a tough sell for fans who know that Neuvirth's performances this season have been nothing short of abysmal, with a 3.54 goals against average and a .859 save percentage through nine games. With that in mind seeing the departure of a 22-year-old goalie who was putting up a 1.79 GAA and .938 save percentage in his four games played is a tough pill to swallow.
