Flyers rookie Carter Hart makes diving save of the year

In case you missed it, the Philadelphia Flyers got past the visiting Vancouver Canucks 2-1 last night to earn their eighth straight victory. For Flyers rookie goalie Carter Hart it was his seventh straight win and another dominating performance between the pipes. The 20 year old rookie not only won the NHL’s Rookie of the Month award for January, but was named the NHL’s second star last week and is beginning to generate some Calder Trophy buzz.

The 20 year old netminder has played just 16 games this season, so it seems unlikely that he catches Canucks rookie Elias Petttersson or first year defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and MIro Heiskanen in Calder voting, but he’s forcing people to take notice nonetheless. The youngster has an impressive 2.48 goals against average and .925 save percentage in his first 16 NHL games. Not bad, not bad at all. Even better? Saves like this:

My GOODNESS what a save. This kid is legit. Here’s hoping he puts an end to the goalie carousel in Philly that’s been going ‘round and ‘round since Ron Hextall was traded back in 1992.
