It was a nice return while it lasted.

On Monday, the Flyers announced that veteran defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen would once again be sidelined due to injury. According to the official announcement, Ristolainen is expected to miss roughly another two weeks as a result of this latest setback.

The news will be incredibly frustrating for Flyers fans who only just saw Ristolainen return from an extended injury layoff to start the season. Ristolainen returned for Saturday's game against the Anaheim Ducks but he would only play for for 14 minutes and 34 seconds of ice time, well below what you would normally expect out of Ristolainen on any given night.

Of the 13 games the Flyers have played this season, Ristolainen has only appeared in 4, and he was limited in two of those games after suffering the injuries that have plagued him so far this season.

This unfortunately has become something of a reoccurring problem for Ristolainen and as a result is a growing source of frustration for fans. Ristolainen has only played more than 70 games once during his 5 previous seasons with the Flyers. and it appears this season will be no different.

If Ristolainen does stick to the two week timeline, the earliest he could return would be November 9th for a game against the Vancouver Canucks.
