The Philadelphia Flyers have completed an important piece of business.

According to an official announcement from the Philadelphia Flyers organization the team has signed defenseman Travis Sanheim to a brand new contract extension. The deal is a bridge deal that will see Sanheim's services secured for the next 2 years and Sanheim is expected to earn an average annual value of $3.25 million over the term of that deal, although the Flyers have not provided an official breakdown of that contract.

The Flyers released the following announcement via general manager Chuck Fletcher:

"We are very pleased with the progress Travis has made in his young career," said Fletcher. "He is a skilled, two-way defenseman with excellent size and mobility. He is a big part of our present and our future."

Interestingly enough Travis Sanheim himself has also released a statement regarding his new deal.

"I'm obviously really excited," said Sanheim as per NHL.com. "It's a big step in my career. I'm looking forward to another two years with the Flyers. I'm really excited with the way the team's moving forward and the moves we've made this summer."

Sanheim established himself as an important piece of the Flyers blue line in his second season in the National Hockey League. The former first round pick played just 49 games as a rookie but participated in the full 82 game season during the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season. Sanheim finished the season with 9 goals and 26 assists for a total of 35 points and will no doubt be a fixture of the Flyers blue line of the next 2 years as well.
