Former Bruins 1st rounder signs a new contract

This guy was doomed from the moment Don Sweeney drafted him.

This just in, forward Zach Senyshyn has signed a contract with Schwenninger Wild Wings of the German DEL league.

The 26 year old split his season between the Utica Comets and the Chicago Wolves of the AHL last season, scoring just 10 goals and 18 points in 62 combined games. He last played in the NHL during the 2021-22 season with the Ottawa Senators, going pointless.

Senyshyn, of course, was one of the high profile draft picks that Don Sweeney made during his first offseason as the Boston Bruins' general manager. For those keeping track at home, the others were Jake DeBrusk and Jakub Zboril... with today's news DeBrusk is now the only player of the three left in the NHL. The worst part is that star players like Mathew Barzal, Kyle Connor, Thomas Chabot and Brock Boeser were all selected after Sweeney chose Senyshyn. Ouch.

In total, Senyshyn managed just one goal and three points in 16 NHL games split between the Bruins and the Senators. And, frankly, he wasn't even able to cement himself as a quality AHL player, either. His best campaign came in 2021-22 when he put up 19 goals and 34 points in 66 AHL games. Not terrible, but not exactly what you're looking for in a top prospect.
