Former Canucks goalie destroys Evander Kane after controversial penalty in Game 4

This got a lot of people talking!

Former Vancouver Canucks goalie Eddie Lack has been quite active on social media in recent years, and has closely followed the performance of his former team. It was no different on Tuesday night as the Canucks face the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of their second round series and he went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, for his brutal yet hilarious insult on Evander Kane.

In the first period of the contest, Kane was sent to the penalty box for a double minor against Tyler Myers for high sticking. The Canucks’ defenseman was bleeding on the play, and head coach Rick Tocchet was adament that the Oilers’ forward should have had a major for cross-checking Myers in the face, which would have come with an automatic game misconduct.

Instead, Kane only got four minutes, and the Canucks weren’t able to capitalize on the man advantage.

However, Kane was absolutely destroyed by Lack when, as fans suggested he should be fined or suspended for the cross-checked to the face of a much taller Myers. Lack posted this hilarious comment:

“Evander Kane begging for a 1 game suspension since he can’t afford the 5K fine.”

Some fans were loving the jokes, while others thought it was a low blow. As you know, Kane has been dealing with significant financial issues ever since it was reported that he had filed for bankruptcy due to a gambling addiction. In judicial papers filed, it was reported that he wagered sometimes as often as 50 times a day, and was in significant debt in spite of overall career earnings that have reached $76 million.

Some Oilers’ fans came to Kane’s defense with one saying that Lack would never have the balls to say it the forward’s face. To which Lack simply answered:

“I would prob get the few teeth I have left knocked out which is why I did it over the phone DUH!”

Lack, now retired, started his NHL career with the Canucks during the 2013-14 season.

I have to admit I love the joke. I can’t say I’m a fan of Kane after all that’s been said about his behaviour towards women, notably his ex wife Anna, who had publicly accused Kane of infidelity and abandoning their family, while also claiming that the then-San Jose Shark was gambling on NHL games.

And come on, this only adds to this fun rivalry in Western Canada!
