Former first round pick fails to make the cut.

It's been 5 years since he's been drafted and the "tweener" tag just doesn't fit anymore.

In what appears to have been one of the rare mistakes from the Chicago Blackhawks organization, the team drafted center Mark McNeill 18th overall in the 2011 National Hockey League entry Draft.

Since that time McNeill has appeared in just a single NHL game for Chicago, and considering it's now been 5 years for him within their organization there is no doubt that is well below the expectations of a former first round draft choice.

McNeill has put up respectable seasons in the American Hockey League but has consistently failed to impress at NHL training camp and this year is no different, with the Blackhawks announcing this week that he once again has failed to make the team, and as a result will was placed on waivers only to be claimed by no one and will spend another season in the minor leagues.

It's safe to say Mark McNeill is officially a bust.
