This pick looks like a total failure.

Former first round draft pick may officially be a total bust.

It's rare to see a former first round draft pick fail so badly.

After it appeared that the Boston Bruins had lost all faith in goaltender Malcolm Subban, burying him in the American Hockey League all of last season without even so much as a hint of a call up, he finally got his second shot at an NHL start on Tuesday night, and it was a horrible night for Subban.

Subban was pulled from the game after allowing three goals on eight shots in the second period, and his overall numbers for the evening were even more damning. Subban ended the night with a 5.88 goals against average and a pathetic .813 save percentage, by no means the standard one expects from a National Hockey League goaltender, much less one that was drafted in the first round.

It looks even worse when you consider that his only other NHL start saw him post a 5.31 goals against average and a save percentage that was laughable, .500. It now seems obvious that Subban will never be a number one in the National Hockey League, and it may even be time to rule him out as a viable backup goaltender.

Malcolm Subban looks like he is now officially a total bust as a 24th overall pick in the draft. Unsurprisingly he won't get the start for Boston again, even with their top two goaltenders injured.
