Fisher chimes in on the big controversy of the week.

Mike Fisher is speaking his mind and it appears as though he doesn't care how that may impact the way some of his long time fans perceive him.

On Sunday Fisher took to social media and shared his thoughts on what has arguably been the most controversial topic this week in the world of sports, the vaccination status of Green Bay Packers superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers made headlines this week when he revealed that he has not been vaccinated, in part due to what he claims are concerns regarding certain substances he is allergic to contained within some of the vaccines.

Fisher took to Instagram and published a picture that read simply "I stand with Aaron Rodgers." The picture was accompanied by the following message:

I stand with Aaron Rodgers I believe in the freedom to choose what we put in our bodies and the freedom of conscience. I agree with him in that the science clearly shows the vaccinated spread covid at basically the same rate as the unvaccinated. The National Hockey League, National Football League, and other leagues are ignoring the science and choosing to coerce and punish unvaccinated players with these restrictions. If they really cared about people’s health they would have daily testing for all. But these past 2 years has clearly shown us that this is not about our health, it’s about control over our lives. I won’t stand for that. It’s time to fight for our medical freedom and I feel for those that have been fired for choosing medical freedom. People losing their jobs over a medical choice is un-American and unacceptable. We need to stand up now before it’s too late!!

For those wondering about the comments that prompted such a response from Fisher, here's some of what Rodgers had to say during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show.

"I realize I am in the crosshairs of the woke mob right now, so before the final nail gets put into my cancel culture casket I think I would like to set the record straight on so many of the blatant lies that are out there about myself right now," said Rodgers on the show.

The Packers quarterback would then go on to explain why he had made the decision not to take the vaccine, one that he says was made after consulting with medical experts.

"Look I'm not some sort of anti-vaxx flat earther, I am somebody that is a critical thinker," said Rodgers. "You guys know me I march to the beat of my own drum. I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body, not to have to acquiesce to some woke culture or crazed group of individuals that say you have to do something."

"Health is not a one size fits all for everybody, and for me it involved a lot of study in the offseason... I put a lot of time and energy and research and met with a lot of different people in the medical field to get the most information about the vaccines before making a decision."

Rodgers goes on to explain that he has an allergy to the mRna vaccines, and also points out that the CDC website indicates someone with his type of allergy should not take an mRna vaccine.
