Former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque calls out Ryan Reaves.

George Laraque had some harsh comments for the Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer after his fight on Saturday night.

Former National Hockey League enforcer Georges Laraque, it would seem, isn't too impressed with current Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves.

On Sunday, Laraque took to social media to tackle a segment of the Montreal Canadiens fan base that believes Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj doesn't pull his weight in the lineup. Laraque argued that last night's game against the Maple Leafs proved Xhekaj's value, but unfortunately his praise of Xhekaj would come at the expense of the aforementioned Reaves.

From Laraque:

For those who were wondering the importance of Xhekaj in the lineup, I hope you understand after yesterday's game against Toronto. Go watch the previous match between the 2 teams when Xhekaj played, Reaves was invisible, and yesterday he was driving everyone crazy! While the cat's away the mice will play!!!

If you're thinking to yourself that sounds like a bit of a shot at Reaves, I'd be willing to wager you're probably right. Although Laraque's comments weren't necessarily a direct shot at the Maple Leafs enforcer, he would double down on his criticism of Reaves when he argued that Reaves had failed to establish himself as a threat for the Maple Leafs.

From Laraque:

Just so you know, ill explain something to you plain and simple. When you play your first game in Toronto after signing a 3 year deal, in front of your fans, you play rival team like Montreal. You’re supposed to be the #1 heavyweight in the NHL, when a guy makes you look bad in a fight, because Xhekaj did made him look bad, you go again, not the next game, the same game. Xhekaj has nothing to prove!

Although Laraque suggests that Xhekaj has nothing to prove, it does sound like he might be trying to tease a rematch out of Reaves. I suspect that fans of both teams would be more than ok with that potential scenario.
