Former NHL enforcer Gino Odjick has died.

A stunning update from the Odjick family.

Jonathan Larivee

I have the unfortunate task of bringing you some very sad news today.

The family of former National Hockey League enforcer Gino Odjick has announced that he has shockingly passed away at the age of 52. No cause of death has been officially announced at this time, however Odjick had been suffering from AL amyloidosis, a rare blood disorder, since at least 2014 when he went public with his condition.

Odjick was a long time member of the NHL having played in 605 regular season games during a career that saw him play for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens. Odjick would earn the nickname "The Algonquin Assassin" during his NHL career and would become a truly beloved figure in the sport, loved by fans across the globe.

Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal has sadly confirmed the news.

My thoughts and condolences go out to the Odjick family and all of Gino's loved ones.

Stay tuned for more details.
