Former NHL GM believes one team should go “all-in” for star defenseman.

A very bold suggestion from a former GM.

A former National Hockey League general manager and player agent, and current NHL analysts for the NHL Network , has bad a very bold proclamation.

Over the week-end Brian Lawton discussed several offseason rumors and during those discussion he made one bold proclamation, suggesting that the Edmonton Oilers and general manager Peter Chiarelli should go "all-in" and make a trade to acquire Montreal Canadiens star defenseman P.K. Subban.

There have been rumblings since late in the regular season of problems in the Habs locker room, problems that all seem to boil down to one man, P.K. Subban and his personality rubbing people the wrong way. Subban's contract currently doesn't feature any clauses that restrict his movement, those will only kick in this summer, so a move is not impossible.

Obviously it would take a blockbuster offer, but the Oilers do have the depth at forward as well as a top tier pick in this year's NHL draft, and those factors could result in an offer too good for Habs GM Mardc Bergevin to refuse, especially if the rumors of problems with Subban are accurate.
