Spencer Martin goes berserk after another player gets in his face.
Don't mess with Spencer Martin.
That was a lesson members of the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Islanders learned the hard way this week when they got a little too comfortable in what is Martin's sacred space. Martin, a former goaltender in the National Hockey League, was representing the Hartford Wolfpack when he suddenly found himself in the middle of a physical altercation.
Martin appeared to be talking some trash during another altercation on the ice when he was suddenly and unexpectedly attacked by a member of the Islanders.
Although Martin appeared to have been caught off guard by the attack, and who can blame him given that this is not something you typically see even in the sport of hockey, he was more than willing to join the dance once he got back to his feet. Martin jumped into the pile and began throwing punches of his own, showing no fear whatsoever despite his equipment limiting his ability to fight back.
Martin seemed very pleased with himself when the entire thing had wrapped up, with Martin signaling to both the Islanders and the crowd that he was willing to take on anyone else that wanted a piece of him.
The former Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers goaltender not only seemed to have suffered no damage, but seemed to be relishing in his chance to unload on his opponents.
Something tells me players won't be so eager to test Spencer Martin in the future.
