Sad news to announce on Saturday night as former NHL goaltender Dunc Wilson has passed away.
We have some sad news to report on Saturday night.
The Vancouver Canucks Alumni have just announced the passing of former National Hockey League goaltender Dunc Wilson, Wilson was 75 years old. According to the announcement, Wilson passed away in Honduras where he had lived for several years, no further details regarding his passing have been provided at this time.
The native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada played in 287 regular season games during his career in the National Hockey League. Wilson made his mark on several NHL markets, spending multiple season with the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Perhaps Wilson will be best remembered for the unique look he sported during his career with his very striking goalie masks, masks that fans still cherish today all these years later. Here are just a few examples:
Wilson played in an era of the NHL where goaltenders were offered very little protection when compared to today's modern standards, a true warrior whose exploits on the ice should never be forgotten.
My thoughts and condolences go out to the Wilson family and all of his loved ones.
