Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock may want to make sure he regularly looks over his shoulder for the next little while.

Although he himself did not participate in it Mike Babcock was the subject of an extremely volatile interview this week when he was discussed at length during a podcast that featured one of his former players. The player in question is none other than former National Hockey League enforcer Mike Commodore, a man who has had plenty of experience playing under Babcock through his NHL career. Needless to say that Commodore had absolutely no kind words to share regarding his former coach, and shockingly even seemed to openly threaten Babcock during the interview suggesting that he would bring harm to his former coach if he ever managed to get away with it.

"If I could legitimately hurt him and get away with it, I would consider doing it," Commodore told 97.1 The Ticket's podcast In The Meantime. "But it’s not worth jail time. It would be a potential fist fight, for sure. I’d let him get the first one in just so I don’t get in trouble, and then it’s on."

Those are some rather spicy words from the former NHL journeyman and you have to wonder if the veteran head coach of the Maple Leafs might not consider some form of legal action after these comments go public. I'm not saying Commodore should be arrested for making what could very well be taken as a threat, but would anyone be shocked if Babcock sought out an order of protection against Commodore following these comments?

Commodore was then asked what would happen if the two men were to cross paths in an amicable setting, say a charity golf tournament, and once again his response proved to be explosive in nature.

"We’re not even making it off the first tee," Commodore said. "I hope I never see that guy for the rest of my life. That would be a good thing. He is not a person that I want anybody I like to meet. He is a sc*mbag. But if that did happen ... I would have a very hard time keeping it together. With his ego, he would definitely say something, and to be honest, I would fly off the fuc*ing handle. I would have no control.

"I’m not saying I’m the toughest guy in the world, but I’m telling you right now, I would kick the sh*t out of that guy."

Needless to say I think it is safe to assume that Mike Commodore is not Mike Babcock's biggest fan, but according to the disgruntled former player he is not alone in his hatred of his former coach.

"Everybody that I know that’s ran into Mike Babcock, that has had the misfortune of either playing for him or dealing with him or being at Joe Louis Arena with him back in the day, hates his guts," Commodore said. "The guy is a piece of sh*t that treats people terribly. His ego, I haven’t met him since he signed that deal in Toronto, so I can’t even imagine how big his fuc*ing ego is now."

Commodore clearly blames Babcock for derailing his career, although how much of that is justified and how much of it is warped by Commodore's perception of his own career is unclear. What is clear however is how Mike Commodore feels about the current bench boss of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"When I hear Mike Babcock, the first thing that comes through my mind is, piece of sh*t," said Commodore.
