Former NHL star gives the solution to Oilers' woes

The Edmonton Oilers won the hearts of hockey fans last season after a 10 year stretch of suffering and basement-dwelling.

This season - they look like their former selves, despite having Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl leading the way.

Peter Chiarelli's team is an abysmal 6-9-2, "good" for second last in the Western conference.

Former Bruins star Marc Savard claims to have the solution to the team's woes.

What Savard doesn't seem to realize, is that the two don't perform optimally on their own, with their wingers not performing up to snuff this year. Splitting them up essentially nullifies the two as the elite threats that they are, and only reduces their chance of putting goals on the board.

The real solution is to solve the winger issue that the Oilers currently have - as good as McDavid and Draisaitl are, if they can't rely on their wingers for production, the problem will persist.

What do you think the solution is?
