This past weekend the Sheffield Steelers of the UK's EIHL abruptly announced that it was cutting ties with former NHLer Cliff Pu.
The 27 year old former Buffalo Sabres draft pick who was traded in a blockbuster deal for Jeff Skinner back in 2018 plead guilty in court yesterday to two charges of assault on a woman.

Former Sheffield Steelers forward Cliff Pu admitted in court yesterday that he assaulted a woman in two different assaults both carried out in Sheffield, one carried out on November 17th and the second on December 11th.
"Following Pu's guilty pleas, the case was adjourned until February 2026 for sentence. Pu, was released on conditional bail until then." - The Star Sheffield
The native of Richmond Hill, ON has struggled to find a home in pro hockey the past few seasons and has bounced around from the Slovak, Swiss and British pro leagues following a four year stint in the KHL.
Now, it looks like his professional hockey career is cooked.
