This guy always had rocks for brains. Get a clue, buddy...
Former NHLer David Booth is still plying his trade as a professional hockey player... in Australia of all places.
The 40 year old forward is currently playing for the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) after signing with the team in May. He has an outstanding 25 goals and 50 points in 11 games for the Melbourne Ice and is 7th in league scoring, despite playing fewer than half of the league's games.
Maybe we shouldn't be surprised that Booth is suddenly trying to become the Aussie Gretzky though?
Since his last NHL game with the Detroit Red Wings in 2018, Booth has now played for seven teams across five countries, four of which are in Europe.
Belarus’ Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, Manglerud, Vålerenga, and Storhamar in Norway, the Jackson Hole Moose of the U.S.-based Black Diamond Hockey League, Eisbären Regensburg in the German second division, and Ferencvárosi TC in Hungary.
He's clearly working with some sort of international mercenary role. It seems to be working for him too, so who am I to question his decisions?
Unfortunately, if you remember Booth as a player, making good decisions on the ice was not his specialty. He was prone to awful mistakes and turnovers, to the point where I'd question 'why is this guy in the NHL?'
Case in point, yesterday Booth broke his stick over his opponent with a brutal cross-check to the throat.
Check it out:
Buddy... what are you DOING?!
Incredibly, there was no penalty called on the play. I guess Aussie Rules applies to hockey too?
