Former NHLer Sestito goes on unhinged rant about Pride Night

Not gonna lie... Sestito make a point, but this isn't the way to get it across. Take a seat, bud.

Former NHL tough guy Tom Sestito is getting some flack online after wading into social media argument concerning gender pronouns and the use of "Pride Night" across the NHL to bring awareness to and increase inclusivity for the LGBTQ community.

Frankly... I don't even know where to begin. So let's just dig in.

Outspoken LGBTQ hockey fan Cody Sweet made a post about the impact that Pride Night and inclusivity has within his community and that's when Sestito decided to reply with a complete non-sequitor about gender pronouns.

Follow along:

Look... maybe I'm not being entirely fair to Sestito here, because I truly do understand what he's trying to say, even if he's saying it in a very clumsy way. I genuinely believe him when he says he doesn't hate anyone on the basis of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

The thing is... you can't have it both ways.

Sestito says he'd support a teammate who doesn't want to support LGBTQ inclusivity. Would he support a teammate who doesn't want to support of black or indigenous causes? I suspect not because that would earn him the label of racist. You see the apples to apples comparison here, Tom?

It's ironic to me that the people who say they "don't care" what someone's gender identity is seem to make the biggest stink about it online. I truly don't care what your gender identity or sexual orientation is and you'll never see me wading into Twitter conversations about it. Live and let live, people.
