Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Willie Marshall, who is best known for holding the American Hockey League record for most goals, most points, most assists, most hat tricks, and most games played, has passed away today at the age of 91.

Nicknamed "The Whip", Marshall would begin his hockey career with the Toronto St. Michael's Majors before eventually playing 33 NHL games for the Maple Leafs. However, the majority of his career was spent in the American Hockey League, winning three Calder Cup championships and setting multiple records.

The Willie Marshall Award, which is given annually to the AHL's leading goal scorer, is named in his honor.

In 1,205 career AHL games, Marshall would score 523 goals with 852 assists.
