France is heating up, and Czechia was imploding...
After a dominant first period by the Czechs, who were trying to shake off their 5-0 loss to Canada yesterday, France came out firing in the second. In just 4 minutes and 53 seconds, the French squad scored three straight goals on netminder Dan Vladar, completely flipping the script.
Louis Boudon led the charge with two incredible goals and Hugo Gallet added a tally, helping France surge ahead 3-2 despite being outshot 17-7 in the period. The Czech players and fans alike were left stunned as the French put them suddenly on their heels.
At Milano Santagiulia, the energy in the arena has shifted dramatically. What started as a game controlled by Czechia has now turned into a thrilling back-and-forth, with France showing they’re no pushover in this Olympic tournament.
With momentum firmly in their favour, France is putting the Czech team under serious pressure.
Fortunately for Czechia, before the end of the second frame, David Pastrňák tucked in a wraparound to draw the Czechs even with the French at 3-3.
Then, on a horrendous change by the French players on the power-play, Czechia took back the lead, scoring on a shorthanded 3-on-0 with just over 30 seconds left in the period.
It has to be one of the all-time worst line changes.
A little bit of a sigh of relief I'd say...
The Czechs went on to win 6-3 over France.
