Whoa! This is a wild decision!
This just in, the French Hockey Federation has suspended defenseman Pierre Crinon for the rest of the 2026 Winter Olympics for his "provocative behavior upon leaving the ice" following a fight with Team Canada's Tom Wilson yesterday.
Crinon was assessed a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for fighting, as was Wilson, but received no further punishment from the IOC or the IIHF. This decision was made solely by France.
Crinon was boo'ed off the ice by Canadian hockey fans and was seen making "I can't hear you" style gestures to the crowd as he was ushered off the ice by officials. The French Hockey Federation called this behaviour "a clear violation of the Olympic spirit" and stated that his actions undermine the values of sport.
It should be noted that Crinon was a bit of a controversial addition to France's roster to begin with. He was suspended for 7 games for an unprovoked attack on an opposing goaltender earlier this season. It's safe to say that he's France's own version of Tom Wilson.
