Frank dunks on himself lol
Vancouver Canucks President Jim Rutherford made some waves with his comments to The Province reporter Patrick Johnson earlier this week, admitting that the team is entering a rebuilding phase and that it is considering moving veteran players.
“We have to make this team younger. We have to get this team going in a different direction from where we’ve been," Rutherford said on Monday.
“This isn’t about just looking at trading everybody. There are a number of veterans who have played very well, so this isn’t about clumping everybody together. It’s more about accelerating the obvious (moves) that could be made two months down the road.”
“Use whatever word people like, whether it’s somewhat of a rebuild, not a full blown rebuild, but a rebuild-retool, whatever. It’s the position we’ve been in since the J.T. Miller trade.”
And here's the shocker concerning captain Quinn Hughes and his future with the team:
“I believe Quinn and his agent are aware of the direction we want to go. And they’re aware of the direction they want to go. Everybody wants to play on a winning team. But there’s different reasons why people make decisions."
If was those comments in particular that put Canucks fans a bit on edge and facilitated a bunch of trade rumors, whether real or bogus. The Quinn Hughes Trade Hype Train has left the station and the route runs straight through Speculation City. NHL insiders like Frank Seravalli, Darren Dreger, Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston have all weighed in on the likelihood of a trade and... well... Canucks fans don't wanna hear it.
Canucks superfan and international recording artist Michael Buble even went so far as to lash out against Seravalli for bogus trade rumors.
On Friday's edition of the Donnie & Dhali podcast, Buble roasted Seravalli, essentially calling him a fake insider.
Check it out:
"I keep reading these things from the media. I haven't said his name, but I'm just gonna say it: Frank Seravalli. Frank is probably a really good guy. I don't know Frank. But, if Frank Seravalli is a Canuck insider then the 40 year old virgin is a pornstar."
LOL
How's that for a chirp?
Seravalli's ego, of course, couldn't just let Buble get away with a free shot though. Seravalli chirped back... kinda.
Asked about Buble's words on Sportsnet 960's The Big Show yesterday, Seravalli poked fun at... Buble's son Elias?
"I found it very odd," Seravalli said. "I guess in the end, I would expect nothing less of someone who has named one of his children after perhaps the NHL's most overpaid player."
Seravalli is trying to poke fun at the fact that he believes Buble named his son after Canucks forward Elias Pettersson... the problem is though that Elias Buble was born a full year and a half before Pettersson was part of the Canucks organization.
So... nice try, Frank.
