Free agent goaltender Aaron Dell signs with NHL team.

Aaron Dell has earned himself another shot at the NHL with a number of teams desperate for help in goal.

The Carolina Hurricanes have reportedly found their replacement for Antti Raanta... at least for now.

A report from National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman has indicated that veteran free agent NHL goaltender Aaron Dell has agreed to a professional tryout offer with the Hurricanes and is bound for Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Hurricanes have tried something similar once this season already, bringing in veteran goaltender Jaroslav Halak for a professional tryout offer that did not end with an NHL contract being signed between the two parties.

Dell has not played at any level of professional hockey this season but has continued to workout off the ice with the likes of retired NHL forward Joe Thornton. He did play in the NHL last season however, appearing in 4 games for the San Jose Sharks in which he recorded a 2.71 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.

It seems unlikely that Dell is going to be the savior in goal for the Hurricanes this season, but he maybe able to provide a stop gap long enough for Hurricanes number one goaltender Frederik Andersen to make his return.
