Friedman: Only one player on the Canucks roster is untouchable.

The insider drops a huge update on the Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks have been the subject of rampant trade speculation in recent weeks and it sounds like that may largely be a problem of their own making.

On Saturday night, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman dropped a bombshell when he revealed that nearly every player on the Canucks roster was available for a potential trade deal. To be clear, Friedman did not indicate that there will be a firesale of some type forthcoming from the Canucks, but rather that the team is looking to make a major shakeup.

"They are not interested in a rebuild or a teardown but they are interested in changing their mix and breathing some new life into the team," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "They have indicated that they have one untouchable and that is [Elias] Pettersson."

That is quite the statement from Friedman when you consider that this would leave players like Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat, and J.T Miller available for trade, just to name a few. Even more surprising than those names however were Friedman's comments about Canucks star defenseman Quinn Hughes.

"What I was told was that the Canucks have said 'It would take an absolutely mammoth offer' this is not something they are looking to do, it would take a mammoth offer for them to part ways with the tremendous young defenseman," said Friedman.

The fact that Hughes, the former 7th overall pick at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and once thought to be a cornerstone of the Canucks future, is available at all makes it clear that management is indeed looking to make some seismic changes to the team.
