Full details of Yaroslav Askarov trade emerge
The Russian native is on his way to the West Coast.
Highly-touted Russian goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov requested a trade from the Nashville Predators after it became clear that his chances of getting the starting role were minimized following the eight-year contract extension for Juuse Saros and subsequent signing of Scott Wedgewood as backup.
His request was granted today when the Predators traded him to the San Jose Sharks, where he'll compete for playing time with MacKenzie Blackwood and Vitek Vanecek, both of whom are under contract for the 2024-25 season but not beyond.
And now, the full details of the trade have been made clear. Askarov is going to the Sharks along with forward Nolan Burke and Colorado's 3rd round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. In return, the Predators are receiving goaltender Magnus Chrona, forward David Edstrom, and the conditional 1st round pick of the Golden Knights in the 2025 NHL Draft:
