The full return.

The full details of the Timo Meier trade have finally dropped and we have them for you.

In this trade the New Jersey Devils will receive:

Timo Meier (50% retained salary)
Scott Harrington
Santeri Hatakka
Timur Ibragimov
Zach Emond
5th round draft selection 2024

On the other side of the deal, going back to the San Jose Sharks:

Fabian Zetterlund
Andreas Johnsson
Nikita Okhotyuk
Shakir Mukhamadullin
1st round draft selection 2023
1st round draft selection 2024(conditional)
7th round draft selection 2024

The centerpiece of this trade is obviously Timo Meier who will be headed to the Devils. As rival teams in the Eastern Conference loaded up ahead of the trade deadline it seems clear the Devils felt they need to add a significant piece and they have done just that.

Meier is in the final year of a 4 year deal that carries an average annual value and cap hit of $6,000,000, but with the Sharks retaining half the money here they get Meier at the very low cost of $3 million against the cap.

The Devils will also receive 29 year old defenseman Scott Harrington, defenseman Santeri Hatakka, forward Timur Ibragimov, goaltender Zach Emond, and a 5th round draft pick at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft from the Sharks in this deal, although clearly the prize here for the Devils was Meier.

In return the Sharks are getting 23 year old winger Fabian Zetterlund, 28 year old winger Andreas Johnsson, 22 year old defenseman Nikita Okhotyuk, 2020 first round pick Shakir Mukhamadullin, a 1st round pick at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, a conditional 1st round pick at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and a 7th round draft pick at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

A huge haul here for the Sharks.
