A high hit on Cale Makar sets off the captain of the Avalanche.
In spite of the fact that we are only at the very start of the National Hockey League preseason, we have already seen some rough stuff around the league. Sunday night was no exception when a game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Utah Mammoth turned ugly.
Somewhat surprisingly it would be Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog who would get down and dirty with former Arizona Coyotes draft pick Sam Lipkin, with Landeskog taking exception to how Lipkin was running around on the ice.
Prior to the altercation Lipkin, who has never played in an NHL game, delivered a high hit to Avalanche star defenseman Cale Makar that dropped him to the ice. Makar not only went down but seemed to be in some discomfort on the bench, and that was enough for the captain of the Avalanche to decide that Lipkin needed to be taught a lesson.
That is exactly what Landeskog would do, quickly overpowering Lipkin and following that up with a series of stiff looking uppercuts that eventually caused Lipkin to fall to the ice. It was a totally one sided domination on the part of the Avalanche's captain, leaving no doubts about who won this exchange.
