As the Ottawa Senators prepare for game 2 of their opening round playoff series against the Boston Bruins, it appears as though they’ll finally get some reinforcements.

Post media hockey columnist and all-around Senators wizard Bruce Garrioch has reported this morning that defensemen Marc Methot and Jryki Jokipakka took the ice for power play practice, as did forwards Chris Neil and Chris Kelly.

The addition of these injured players, Methot in particular, would be a huge boost for the Senators as they look to rebound from a game 1 defeat. Methot has been out of the lineup with a hand injury since March 23rd when Pittsburgh Penguins superstar shattered his finger with a wicked two-handed slash across the blue liner’s hands. Methot’s status for game 1 was questionable and Senators head coach Guy Boucher maintains that if Methot can shoot the puck, he’ll play. This may be a stretch however because just one week ago Methot cold barely hold a stick with his shattered finger. It is playoff time though and we’ve seen players play through catastrophic injuries before so don’t count out Methot just yet.

As for the additions of Jokipakka, Neil and Kelly, they’ll be expected to provide depth to the Sens lineup should they factor into Boucher’s plans for tomorrow’s contest.
