The Washington Capitals dropped a rare 1-0 decision on home ice this evening to the Vegas Golden Knights in a game that didn't provide much for the hometown Caps fans to cheer for.
But, while shelling out a bunch of cash to see your favorite team get shut out sucks, it doesn't suck near as much as taking a puck to the face in the process. In all seriousness though, I shouldn't be so glib as a fan in attendance reportedly did suffer some injuries after getting struck by an errant puck shot out of play by Golden Knights blueliner Brayden McNabb.
Here's how it played out:
Play was stopped momentarily while the injured spectator received medical attention. She reportedly received non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
I wish this poor woman nothing but the best and I think we can all take this as a warning to be aware of the play at all times when you're at a live hockey game. It's a fast sport where things can happen in the blink of an eye.
