Gary Bettman responds to rumors of relocation for the Hurricanes.

The talk of a potential relocation for the Carolina Hurricanes has been extremely loud since a report of a $100 million dollar law suite against Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos came to light, so loud in fact that today National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman addressed those rumors.

When asked about the law suite claiming that Karmanos had defaulted on a $100 million dollar loan from a trust for his three sons, Bettman would only call it an unfortunate family dispute

"There seems to be a family dispute which is unfortunate for the family. ... Peter's been a terrific owner."

There was also a report that Karmanos had borrowed an additional $300 million from the league itself last week, and although Bettman did not address this directly, he said that any talk of relocation for Carolina was simply incorrect.

"The speculation that because of this lawsuit or variety of other things that the team is in jeopardy just isn't right."

An expansion announcement is now just two weeks away, and whether Bettman is being honest here or not will likely be made clear when the official announcement is made.
