Gary Bettman rules against Flames' Rasmus Andersson
The NHL's big boss man renders his verdict.
HockeyFeed
This just in, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has upheld the four game suspension handed out to Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson this past weekend.
Andersson had appealed the NHL's decision to suspend him four games for a hit on Patrik Laine of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Here's the hit in question:
The NHLPA and Andersson both appealed the league's decision and stated their case for a shorter suspension directly to Bettman himself. Call my crazy, but I think having Bettman alone make this decision is a big unprofessional. Bettman hasn't played an NHL hockey game in his life and his job has never been to dole out fines and suspension. Why would he take on that role on appeal?
In any case, Bettman's ruling is final which means that Andersson will NOT be eligible to play in the Battle of Alberta for the Heritage Classic this weekend.
