Gaudreau's killer appears in court, sparks more outrage.
The man alleged to have been behind the wheel of the vehicle that killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
The man accused of taking the lives of National Hockey League star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau this week appeared in court on Friday, and unfortunately that appearance has only caused an already grieving community and family even more pain.
That man, 43 year old New Jersey resident Sean M. Higgins, made his first appearance before a judge since the fatal incident that claimed two young lives far too soon, but Higgins appeared to show no remorse for his actions and even appeared to display annoyance at the fact that he would be held behind bars until this coming Thursday.
Appearing before the judge, Higgins let out an exasperated sigh upon learning that, as a result of the Labor Day weekend, he would be spending the next several days behind bars.
"So I'm here until Thursday?" asked Higgins before letting out a big sigh.
Of course the inconvenience of a few days behind bars is nothing compared to the devastation that Higgins is accused of having wrought on the Gaudreau family.
Johnny and his wife Meredith just welcomed their second child six months ago, leaving a wife and two children now without a husband and father.
Matthew and his wife Madeline were expecting their first child in December, a child that will now never have the chance to meet its father.
Not to mention the rest of the Gaudreau family who have been left devastated, including sister Katie who canceled her wedding scheduled to take place on Friday, less than 24 hours after her brothers were tragically killed.
Higgins' discomfort at having to spend a few days in jail pales in comparison, and understandably his cold and uncaring reaction has resulted in even more outrage over this horrific tragedy.
