Bryan Bickell went out of his way to do something kind for a dying fan, and according to the people closest to him, it may have bought him a few extra days of life with his loved ones. Unfortunately Adam Cheung, the young fan in question has left this world, but the impact he had on his friends and family is far from forgotten. When Adam was dying , diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer, his loved ones reached out to the Blackhawks to see if there was anything they could to to brighten Adam's day, and Bryan Bickell answered the call. Bickell took the time for some "FaceTime" with Adam, and it allegedly completely changed his outlook until the moment he left this world. More from original report:
To Bryan Bickell, As I fumble for words, the easiest thing to do is say thank you. Taking the time out of your day to FaceTime Adam (right) and give him a tour and some minutes of your time was top notch all the way. After your conversation, it was described by friends that Adam had looked like he just scored his first goal and that smile didn’t ever vanish. The doctor’s didn’t have the best of prognosis for Adam prior to your call two weeks ago and we firmly believe that a few minutes of your time not only gave him a thrill of a lifetime but gave him extra energy to stretch his fight another few weeks. Mr. Bickell… thank you, over and over again.
Those words comes from Adam's friend, Art Lippo, a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Blues one of Chicago's toughest rivals. However there is no question that the love his friend received from the Blackhawks organization made the rivalry irrelevant in the moments that mattered most. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Cheung family in this their time of morning, and we hope that all our fans who read this will find an even deeper appreciation for the players in this organization and all the work they do off the ice.
