GMs want to ruin it because “That’s the biggest thing in Toronto.”
So much has been happening on the trade market for the past few days even insider Frank Seravalli is asking for a break.
On Wednesday - after a busy Tuesday in which the Toronto Maple Leafs traded away Pierre Engvall, and Rasmus Sandin while acquiring Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty from the Chicago Blackhawks, Erik Gustafsson and Luke Schenn in separate deals with a total of six new players coming to Toronto over the past 11 days, without mentioning Patrick Kane finally heading to NYC, the ball kept going with blockbusters taking place all day as well.
Defenseman Jakob Chychrun was finally traded to the Ottawa Senators, and that wasn’t the only deal made by the Arizona Coyotes, who also moved blue liner Shayne Gostisbehere to the Carolina Hurricanes.
There were many other trades, including Pittsburgh Penguins forward Teddy Blueger sent to the Vegas Golden Knights, defenseman Filip Hronek moving from Detroit to Vancouver and of course the stunning trade that saw goalie Jonathan
Quick moved from the Los Angeles Kings to the Columbus Blue as part of a deal for defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.
Insiders are running out of gas, and quite frankly, we have trouble keeping up with them.
Greg Wyshynski spoke with Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong, who willingly admits to wanting to ruin trade deadline day in Toronto.
TSN host James Duthie already fears having to fill in the time on Friday, and quickly corrected Armstrong on social media:
If all GMs have this attitude, Friday might be real quiet after all…
