This just in: the Habs have just landed in Pittsburgh with a new goalie ready to face the Penguins tomorrow night.
After getting pummelled 6-1 by the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning last night, the Montreal Canadiens recalled goaltender Jacob Fowler , defenseman Adam Engstrom , and forward Owen Beck from the AHL’s Laval Rocket.
The focus immediately went to the young goalie Fowler, who was getting shots and intense preparation this morning in Montreal before the team flew out to Pittsburgh for tomorrow night’s game against the Penguins.
As soon as the plane landed, Sportsnet team insider Eric Engels confirmed that the Canadiens were making the goalie change and that Fowler was making his NHL debut on Thursday.
"Just landed in Pittsburgh, where I fully expect to see Jacob Fowler make his NHL debut tomorrow vs. the Penguins," Engels posted on X.
The 21-year-old Fowler is the top goaltending prospect in the organization and has compiled a 10-5-0 record with a .919 save percentage and 2.08 goals-against average in 15 games with the Rocket this season, his first full campaign in the AHL.
He was originally selected 69th overall by the Habs in the 2023 NHL Draft.
And all eyes will be on him tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
