The Colorado Avalanche got away with a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday, thanks to goalie Darcy Kuemper.
The Avs, now the league’s first team to reach 100 points this season, have 15 regular-season games remaining and are focused on the postseason.
Though it was time to have some fun on Friday and during practice, the roster split into two and both clubs had a mini rink game.
However, Kuemper allowed in a goal that got him to react in a stunning way. As the puck went into his net, the Avalanche’s media team snapped a few pictures of the net minder smashing his stick on the crossbar.
Pictures were also taken of his teammates on the benches, all smiling and laughing, which hints at the fact that Kuemper was messing around and having some fun.
After all, it is April Fools Day.
With the Avalanche in first place in the entire league with 102 points, it can have some fun before things get serious in the postseason.
