The Montreal Canadiens have reportedly traded veteran goalie Jake Allen to the New Jersey Devils, per insider Pierre LeBrun.
The Habs are getting a conditional third round pick, which can became a second round one, depending on the numbers of games played by Allen with the Devils.
The return is a 2025 third-round pick which could become a second if Allen plays 40 games for the Devils.
Allen has one year left on his contract after this season with an annual salary of $3.85 million. Montreal will retain 50 per cent of his cap hit through next season.
His .892 SP and 3.68 GAA aren’t anything exceptional, but goaltending has been quite an issue in past season in New Jersey.
